There is no restriction on who may
receive messages from the Digest, provided they are for a personal
and non-commercial purpose. However, to ensure that the messages remain
accessible to the widest possible audience, all posts you make must
comply with our Terms of Use.
All information, messages, postings, sound, photographs, graphics
or other materials, are the sole responsibility of the person from
which such content originated. This means that you, and not the Australian
CraftBrewers, are entirely responsible for all content that you upload,
post, email or transmit. Australian CraftBrewers does not control
the content posted, and as such, does not guarantee the accuracy,
integrity or quality of such content. You must not post or email any
material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing,
defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy,
hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable. While
using the Digest you must not impersonate any person or entity; or
manipulate email headers to disguise the origin of any transmitted
material.
You should display proper conduct at all times. Gratuitous bad language,
personal attacks, insults and repeated off-topic posts are not allowed.
Please remember that any poor behaviour in this public forum reflects
on you as an individual and on the local brewing community in general.
At present, brewing related commercial posts are permitted. There
is no specific rules about the frequency of such posts but please
bear in mind that many people do not enjoy frequent commercial posts.
In all cases the message should be kept short, and where ever possible
simply refer the reader to a web site for the relevant information.
Any messages received from non-members will be held for approval
by the moderators. After joining, you can exchange daily emails with
other Digest members, however your first few postings will be moderated.
This means that your messages will be reviewed for consistency with
these policies before forwarding them on to the Digest. Please understand
that a moderator may not be at their computer at the exact time you
make a post and some time may elapse between your message being sent
and it being approved. The prevalence of SPAM (unsolicited commercial
advertisements), computer viruses and other malevolent email messages
has made this review process necessary.
When replying to postings, please be considerate to those who will
be reading your reply and remove any unnecessary lines of information.
Excessive and irrelevant information increases the time taken for
people to download your message, and reduces its readability. It can
become very difficult to see what you are saying among the unwelcome
clutter. On the other hand, there are times when including a fair
amount of the original information is important to set the context
of the reply. Users will need to find the appropriate balance. However
individuals who regularly fail to crop their replies to remove unnecessary
text will be placed on moderation to preserve the readability of the
Digest.
Messages that do not comply with these terms will initially be returned
to you with suggested changes. Non-compliant messages that are repeatedly
submitted without change will be edited and submitted on your behalf
if one of the volunteer moderators has the time, or silently deleted
if they don't.
Disregard for these terms will require your messages to the Digest
to continue to require approval before being distributed to other
members. However, once you have demonstrated your compliance with
these terms, your messages will appear without prior approval being
required.
Message Delivery
You can select how you would like to receive the messages from the
Digest. When you join the Digest, the default setting is to receive
all the days messages grouped together in a single email message.
This is called digest mode, and is useful when you
receive a lot of email messages or wish to only read postings to the
Australian CraftBrewer Digest once a day. You can change this to individual
mode, where messages to the Digest are sent out immediately.
You can use your email program to reply to a Digest posting, just
as you would with any other email message. When using the "reply"
feature of your email system with messages from a mailing list, however,
please stop to think whether your reply should go to the person sending
the original message or to the entire Digest. The CraftBrewer Digest
is configured so that the reply function generates a message addressed
back to the original Digest - not to the sender. It's always
a good idea to double-check the To: and Cc: lines in the header of
your reply to make sure you don't send a message to the Digest that
you intended to be a private message to an individual. |
